Each November, the Harvest Drive assists more than 2400 Broward County Schools’ families with 6-10 bags of groceries and a gift card or perishables to complete their Thanksgiving meal. Now more than ever, empowering our students to make a difference in their community is essential. Join us in making Broward County a healthier and kinder place to live.
2020 is our 28th year of “Children Helping Children”. When we combine students’ collective efforts with the support of community and business partners, tens of thousands of lives are changed. Caridad Alvarez, a teacher at Westglades Middle School, sums up the importance of the Harvest Drive as follows, “The Harvest Drive has an impact on families’ lives beyond feeding them. It impacts and enriches their lives knowing that others generously donated those items. It helps families feel that they are valuable members of the community. It contributes to their education, because when one’s basic needs are met, one can focus and concentrate on learning.”
Empower our students and reduce the devastating effects of food insecurity by becoming a sponsor, collecting non-perishable food items for our November Drive, or by engaging in a box packing with your business.
